The no.1 professional female squash player in the world one and only Datuk Nicole Ann David as the first Asian female to hold the titles in 2006. Nicole, is one of the sports icon that inspires many young Malaysians to accomplish the achievement that she had gain. She was amazing and has achieved many awards due to her contribution to the country involving squash until now and in the future. The reasons that I Choose Datuk Nicole as one of the successful athletes because she is one of the sports icon that inspires many young Malaysians to accomplish the achievement that she had gain. I hope that the spirits that she performs and shows to us throughout this time, will inspire all of us to achieve such accomplishment like Datuk Nicole Ann David.Early life
Nicole
David was born on August 26, 1983, in Penang, Malaysia. During school, her
favourite subject in class is mathematic because she wanted to become an
engineer like her father, Desmon David. She received her education in Convent
Green Lane Primary and Secondary School in Pulau Pinang. Nicole academic
achievement are really impressive where she got flying colours in her PMR
(Penilaian Menengah Rendah) and SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Menengah) where manage to
obtain 7A’s. She
was raised a Roman Catholic. She likes to travel and trying different food.
Nicole start to shows
her interest in squash when she was 5 years old. In 1992 Nicole was short
listed to represent her home state of Penang in Milo-Dunlop Spor National
Junior Interstate Championship when she was trained at the Bukit Dumbar Squash Centre.
She earn her first national title when she manage to obtain silver medal in the
under 16 category.
Achievement
Datuk
Nicole Ann David had numerous of achievements that she had accomplish throughout
the time she play squash for our country. Here, I just include some of the
highlight and brief summary achievement that she had succeed.
David
was given the honour of carrying the Olympic torch for Malaysia during the
build up to the Athens Olympics of 2004 and was appointed UNDP National
Goodwill Ambassador for Malaysia. She had won
several World Championship titles and also British Open once in 2005 and twice in 2006. Nicol David's other notable
achievements include the Asian Squash Championship, which she won with a record
of eight times (in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2011). She received the Order of Merit (Darjah Bakti) or D.B.,
becoming the first recipient of the award since its establishment in June 1975.
Nicole had
achieve a lot of award including when she was honoured with the Darjah Setia
Pangkuan Award (DSPN) that got her the title ‘Datuk’ due to her outstanding
achievement. She was recognized as the youngest person ever
to have the tittle Datuk in Penang. From 2005 to 2010, Nicol David received the
title of WISPA Player of the Year, six times in a row. She has won the World Open Championship consecutively
five times from 2008 –2012 and the Asian Squash for a record eight times
between 1998 and 2011.
